DesktopSMS - SMS Management from Your PC

Manage SMS messages from your Windows PC: read, search, reply, and organize conversations through your Android phone — no registration, no cloud service.

New to DesktopSMS? Start with the step-by-step How to Send SMS from PC Using Your Android Phone guide covering pairing, daily texting, bulk sends, and scheduling.

Manage SMS from your Windows PC

Managing a growing volume of SMS messages directly on a phone takes considerable time. Typing longer replies on a touchscreen, searching message history for a confirmation code, or sending the same update to many recipients one by one is inefficient. DesktopSMS moves these tasks to your Windows PC, where you can use a full keyboard and a larger display, while your Android phone sends and receives the messages.

No registration or cloud relay is required. You connect the desktop client directly to DesktopSMS Lite on your phone over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, or wired LAN, and your conversations become available on your computer.

Read, search, and start conversations

The conversation list provides an overview of all threads. Select a conversation to open it and reply without handling the phone. When you need something older, full-text search finds any message in your archive in seconds — across message text, contact names, and conversation previews, on synced desktop data or straight from the phone. Press Ctrl+F and type. Read more in How to Search SMS and MMS on Desktop with DesktopSMS.

Starting something new is just as fast. Contact search lets you find anyone in your Android address book and open a conversation immediately, and the recent call log lets you text back people who just called you. Dual SIM phones are supported, so both numbers stay within reach from one window.

Send to one recipient or many

Some messages are not meant for one person. Select contacts or contact groups from your phone, or simply paste a list of numbers from your clipboard, and send the same SMS to all of them at once. Each recipient gets an individual message — there is no shared group thread on the network side, which is how SMS on Android actually works. The background is explained in SMS vs MMS vs RCS: How Group Messages Work on Android.

Larger sends go through the pending message queue, which keeps processing in order even if the PC disconnects, and message throttling paces bulk delivery so carriers see steady, natural-looking traffic. Anything with a deadline can be scheduled instead: compose now, pick a date and time, and the phone delivers it while your computer stays off. DesktopSMS Lite and the default SMS app

DesktopSMS Lite is a companion, not a replacement: it works alongside your default Android messaging app, which you keep using exactly as before. That design has honest boundaries worth knowing. MMS messages open read-only — sending MMS is not supported — and RCS conversations can be read while replies go out as SMS. Everything you send lands in the phone's history and in the desktop Sent messages folder, but deleting messages or marking them read stays in the phone's default app, because Android reserves that for the default SMS application.

Private by design

All of this happens locally between your two devices. No messages, contacts, or logs are uploaded anywhere; the only thing that ever leaves your computer is an optional version check carrying nothing but the version number. Read the full story in our DesktopSMS Privacy Policy.
